Phonebook online business listings:

The top section of your business listing features the following information:

1 . Your ‘cover’ image, business name, logo, slogan and star rating from reviews.

2 . Tabs to switch between your profile page, deals and customer reviews. 

3 . Quick-action buttons to save, share, review, call your business or contact you in a variety of ways.

Pages within your listings:

Your business information is displayed on the main page of your listing. Visitors can view and interact with this page or click the other page tabs to read reviews, or see your deals.

While most of the information required to create a listing is optional, we recommend filling your profile with as much info as possible.  Our ‘Create A Listing‘ guide below, covers each of the information fields in detail. 

Creating a deal is also optional and it’s super easy to link your deals to your business listing. Click the arrows to view the listing pages below.

Pages within your listings:

Your business information is displayed on the main page of your listing. Visitors can view and interact with this page or click the other page tabs to read reviews, or see your deals.

While most of the information required to create a listing is optional, we recommend filling your profile with as much info as possible.  Our ‘Create A Listing‘ guide below, covers each of the information fields in detail.

Step 1. Create a free account

Create a free account

Creating a free account is the first step before creating a listing. If you already have a Phonebook account and know how to use it, skip to step 2 below.

Firstly, click the ‘Register’ link in the menu bar, or on mobile devices, the little person icon. Add your email and password and click login. Alternatively, you can simply sign up with your Google or Facebook ID.

Once logged into your account, there are options in the menu bar to view and edit your information and a dashboard to view visitor stats.

Creating a free account is the first step before creating a listing. If you already have a Phonebook account and know how to use it, skip to step 2 below.

Firstly, click the ‘Register’ link in the menu bar, or on mobile devices, the little person icon. Add your email and click login. (We will generate a password and email it to you for future logins). Alternatively, you can simply sign up with your Google or Facebook ID.

Once logged into your account, there are options in the menu bar to view and edit your information and a dashboard to view visitor stats.

Step 2. Create an online business listing

1 . From anywhere around the site, simply click the ‘Add A Listing‘ button in the menu bar. (It’s also in the mobile menu).

2 . Click the Business button to choose that listing type.

3 . Choose your phonebook plan by clicking the button at the bottom of that plan. 

4 . Complete the online form with your business details. Click ‘Submit’. (Learn about each form field below).

5 . Check your info (add a coupon code if you have one) complete the payment and click ‘Sign up‘. (You won’t be charged until the free trial period ends).

Business listing form fields

When creating an online business listing, simply add your details to our online form. Learn more about each field by clicking the titles below. Most of the fields are optional, but some are required. Only our Premium business plan includes all of the fields. See our pricing page to learn more about the plan inclusions.

Enter your business name here. (Max 100 characters, required field).

This is your tagline. It can be a catchy phrase like “Service With A Smile” or something short and sweet. (Max 90 characters, optional field).

Enter your Australian business number or company number. This is only for our records and will not be displayed in your listing. (Required field).

Describe your business by writing a short but informative introduction, highlighting your products or services. (Max 3000 characters, required field).

List (up to 14) of your main products or services on offer. For example, a plumber might use:

Plumbing and Gas Fitting

Hot water tank sales and installation

Gutter and downpipe installation, repairs and cleaning

…and so on.

An accountant might use:

Individual Tax Returns

Company & Partnership Tax Returns

Bas Set Up & Lodgement

…and so on.

This is a required field, which is also very useful for helping visitors find you by keyword search, so choose the most popular products or services that you offer.

This is an option to add licenses, such as a builders or electrician license. (Max 300 characters, optional field).

Adding your trading hours is easy. Simply choose a day from the menu, then one of the options underneath.

Opening and closing times can be added by choosing ‘Enter Hours‘ then clicking the ‘Add Hours’ button below. Then choose your hours and repeat for each day.

It’s also possible to add multiple opening/closing times for each day, by clicking on the ‘Add Hours‘ button again. For example, if you are open from 6:30am – 11:30am then from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

Delete trading hours by clicking the ‘trash‘ button on the right of the field.

Select your city time zone from the list. (eg, Sydney).

The name of the business owner or the contact person for this listing. (For our records only, this will not appear in your listing).

Enter the best contact number for the business. (We will use this number for the click-to-call button too).
There are options to add a secondary and third contact number, which will also appear in your listing.

If you have a Facebook Messenger account and would like to offer this as a convenient way for customers to contact you, simply copy and paste your Messenger ID into this field.
Your ID might look something like: david.smith.99

This is your business email address. It will receive all messages from the contact form on your business listing page. This email address will not be displayed in your listing.

Note: Our contact forms are spam filtered and block ‘bot’ attacks. This means you shouldn’t receive spam and scam emails via our forms, only genuine enquiries from real customers. (Just be sure to check your spam folder periodically, for messages that may have been misdirected by your email provider).

If your business has a website, copy and paste the full address, like this:
https://www.example.com.au
We will add this link into a quick-action button and also as a clickable link in your listing. 
It can also help to boost traffic to your own website.

Add your social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin etc.
We will style these as clickable icons in your listing. Customers will be able to easily visit your social pages!

Select the region that your business is based in, or conducts the majority of its operations. (Multi-select available).

Type the street address of the business or choose the location by zooming in and clicking on the map.

Check this box if you would prefer to hide your street number from the map. 

This could useful for home based services that would prefer to keep their exact home location hidden from view, while still appearing on the map in regional search results.

Please note: When submitting a listing, please use your full business address, so we can contact you by mail, if required.

Upload an image that will appear at the top of your business listing and in the preview cards in our feeds.

Important: This image must be a landscape (wider than taller) image. Also try to make sure that the centre of the image is the focal point, as these are cropped to fit different screen sizes. (Images from mobile phones are good, but for older phones, just make sure that the resolution is over 1200px wide x 500px tall, or they may appear fuzzy)

If no image is uploaded, we will apply a generic image that suits your business category. An image can be uploaded later, by editing your listing. 

(Max file size 3mb)

Upload your business logo. This image will be cropped to fit the small logo frame in your listing title. (The best image size is 512px x 512px, but other sizes can be used, as long as the logo is in the centre of the image).
If no logo image is added, we will apply the standard Phonebook logo in your listing and also as a map pin.

(Max file size 3mb)

Upload some images to your gallery. These could be from a phone, landscape images (wide frame) are preferred.
(Image galleries are only available in essential and premium plans).

This is a Premium plan feature only. Upload up to two catalogues or brochures into your listing. These can be pdf, jpeg or png formats. Visitors will be able to click and view these files in your listing.

(Max file sizes 3mb)

Premium plan feature only. Upload up to three menu’s to your listing. These will appear in a list, that visitors can click to view, or download. 
(jpeg, png, pdf files only).

(Max file sizes 3mb)

Add your video URL from youtube or other media source, by copying and pasting the link to this field.

We will display the playable video in your listing. 

If you use ‘Calendly’ to schedule appointments, you can copy and paste your profile link in this field, which places the booking form in your phonebook listing.

Want to use Calendly to accept bookings, but don’t have an account yet? 

Easy! Just pop over to Calendly.com and sign up for a free (or paid) plan. Create your bookable service then copy the link. 

Visit your phonebook account, click the edit button on your listing, then add your calendly link to this field and re-submit.

Your customers will be able to choose from your list of available days/times and place a booking, which is automatically added to your calendar. A notification is also sent to your email account.

A very powerful tool from our preferred partner!

This field will link any Phonebook deals you have created, to your business listing. Simply click the field and choose the deals from your list. Don’t worry if you have not created any deals yet, this can be left blank.
If you decide to create a deal later, this field also appears on the deal form, from which you can select your business to link to.

Deal listing form fields

When creating a deal listing, simply add your details to our online form. Learn more about each field by clicking the titles below. Most of the fields are optional, but some are required. The Basic deal plans do not include all of the fields. See our pricing page to learn more about the plan inclusions.

Click the field and select a deal type from the short list: 
Coupon, Deal, Loyalty Card, Pensioner Discount, Sale.

Note: The ‘Deal’ type is for “2-for-1” or “buy 3, get 4th free” etc…

Click on the field and then select the appropriate business category from the dropdown list.
You can choose up to three categories, if your deal belongs to more than just one.

If your deal is an ‘online only’ deal, (like a website coupon code) check the Online box.
If your deal is an ‘in-store only’ (like a meal deal) check the In Store box.

Or, you can simply skip this field.

Enter the name of the business offering this deal. (Your business).

Add the title of your deal.

Example: 10% Off Sports Shoes

(max 50 characters)

Describe your deal by writing a short but informative introduction, highlighting the benefits. (Max 1000 characters, required field).

Add the terms of your deal. 
For example: One per customer. We reserve the right to end this deal anytime, without prior notice. etc…

Add a your logo to the deal. It will also appear as a map pin for your deal. 

If no logo is added, we will use the default ‘phonebook deals’ logo.

Upload an image that will appear at the top of your deal listing and in the preview cards in our feeds.

Copy and paste your Messenger ID from your account. This will look something like: david.smith.99

Create a coupon code that your customers can use to redeem the deal.

(max 22 characters).

Add the full URL of your website or the relevant webpage. This will appear as a quick-link and in the details of your deal listing. (please copy the full link from your web browser).

If your deal or sale is only for a limited time, simply choose the date and time from the calendar and we will add a countdown timer to the deal. If you do not want the deal to have a countdown to expiry, simply skip this field.

The listing will expire when the timer reaches zero. Expired listings will be removed from our pages, but remain visible in your account. You can relist them by clicking the edit button on the listing, changing the expiry date and re-submitting the listing.

To remove them completely, click the delete button.

This is an Essential & Premium plan feature only. Upload a printable coupon or brochure into your deal listing. This can be in pdf, jpeg or png formats. Visitors will be able to click, view, download and print this file.

This will link the deal to your Phonebook business listing. Simply click the field and select your business listing. (Recommended).
